Thanksgiving Feasts

Not only was I lucky enough to enjoy one Thanksgiving feast, I was lucky enough to enjoy two. In Japan the holiday is celebrated as Thanksgiving Labor Day, but without the turkey. The first feast came at lunch time where Roslynn and I went to an acquaintance’s father’s house from an English conversation group. We feasted
on tempura, tempura, tempura, and tempura, salad, and an egg dish. Oishi. Delicious.

Then we were off to a nabe dinner. Nabe is a winter soup with grean leaf vegetables, shiitake mushrooms, tofu, meat, and seafood. It's prepared in a special nabe pot, on the dining table with a portable gas range. My description doesn't do it any justice, but the picture does. Oishi desu ne.
